The opening round of the Slideways Triple Challenge hit Slideways Go Karting Gold Coast Nerang on Friday night, with a bumper field facing the starter for the three-event series to determine the overall fastest Slideways driver.
The format for the evening ran to the feature length race distance, with 10 minutes of qualifying followed by twin 10 minute races, and a 30 minute final, with the results from all sessions counting towards the round point score.
Kicking off proceedings was qualifying, with Shaun Willcocks shaking the establishment with a pole time of 49.772sec, 0.212sec ahead of Jackson Faulkner.
Gavin Faulkner posted the third fastest time, ahead of young guns Liam Hydes and Elliot Cleary, then Matt Fogarty, Peter Hendra, Ian Harvey, Alex Jacovides, Darryn Van Hout, Jordan Kirk, Daniel Connor, Bianca Williams and Clayton Hydes.
In the opening race it was the Faulkner son-father show, with Jackson leading Gavin to the chequered flag with a 2.519sec margin.
Cleary (fastest lap: 50.365sec) came through for third from Liam Hydes, then the hard charging Jacovides, Willcocks, Fogarty, Harvey, Connor, Kirk, Van Hout, Hendra, Clayton Hydes and Williams.
With the random invert in play for race two, Cleary (fastest lap: 50.203sec) used his pole position advantage to hold on to a 2.868sec advantage over Jackson Faulkner, with Gavin Faulkner a further 8sec back in third.
Liam Hydes was fourth ahead of Jacovides, then Van Hout, Connor, Clayton Hydes, Hendra, Fogarty, Kirk, Harvey, Willcocks and Williams.

A mid-race restart in the finale saw the field bunched for the run to the finish.
Runaway leader in the opening stanza, Jackson Faulkner, didn’t have things all his own way in the closing lap, being pushed all the way to the chequered flag by Cleary (fastest lap: 49.394sec), with the duo split by 2.016sec at the finish.
Gavin Faulkner held on to third by half a second over Liam Hydes, then Willcocks, Jacovides, Fogarty, Kirk, Clayton Hydes, Harvey, Hendra, Connor and Van Hout.
In the overall points for the event, it was Jackson Faulkner on top from Cleary, Gavin Faulkner, Liam Hydes and Willcocks.
